Car Seat Regulations
New regulations governing the use of car seats were introduced in September 2006. Children aged 3-11 years and under 1.35 metres (4ft 5ins) tall must be sat in a child restraint.
Child restraints are:
- Rear-facing baby seats (9-12 months, up to 13kg)
- Forward-facing child seats (9 months-4 years, 9-18kg)
- Booster seats (from approx. 4 years, 15kg plus)
- Booster cushions (from approx. 6 years, 22kg and over)
