A classic Claret from the Médoc has been added to our core range of wines. Modestly priced at £4.99 it is an easy drinking Claret with a deep full colour, generous nose packed with layers of fruit and a well-structured palate rich with ripe fruit and attractive late tannins.

The wine is made from a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and the balance Petit Verdot, all harvested from vineyards along the Médoc, that precious finger of land that runs north from Bordeaux into the Atlantic. It was made for Aldi by Benoit Calvet by fermenting the crushed and de-stemmed fruit into tanks before maturing in stainless steel.

A versatile, well-balanced wine with a sustained length, it will drink well with lamb chops, or bring out the creaminess from a Cheshire Cheese or Gruyère.
