This Policy applies whether you are visiting our Site through an internet browser or through an ALDI "App" on your mobile device (the "App)".

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that, once we have received your data, it is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

5.1. Information which you give us:

5.1.1.We may collect and process the following data which you provide to us:

  • If you register an account on our Site / App, details of any cards that you have successfully purchased products with will be stored and visible to you in the ‘Payment Details’ area of your ‘My Account’ page. Please note, if you no longer wish us to keep your card details for making future purchases, you can click on the ‘delete card’ button and your card information will be removed from your account;
  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Site / App: This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our Site / App, subscribing to our newsletters, corresponding with us by e-mail, through a contact form on our Site / App or by any other means, posting material such as ratings and reviews, requesting further services, searching for a product, placing an order or by contacting our Customer Services Team;
  • Information that you provide when you: download or otherwise register to use the App, make purchases using the App or share data via any social media functions on the App (all of which may, in addition to the information otherwise set out in this paragraph 5, include the phone number of the device used to use the App, your username and password on the App and other registration information);
  • Information that you provide when you enter one of our competitions or participate in one of our promotions;
  • Information that you provide when you report a problem with our Site / App;
  • Information that you provide when accessing wi-fi services in our Stores;
  • Information that you provide through surveys or when asked to give your opinions about our services and products;
  • Contact details (such as your phone number and e-mail address);
  • Personal details (such as your name, age and address); and
  • Other details of transactions you carry out through our Site / App and of the fulfilment of your orders (such as your intended delivery address and financial details).

5.2.1. We may also collect and process the following technical information automatically when you visit our Site / App, log-in or make a purchase:

  • The Internet Protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the internet, your login information, details of the type of device you use, a unique device identifier (for example, your Device's IMEI number, the MAC address of the Device's wireless network interface, or the mobile phone number used by the Device), mobile network information, your browser type and version, your time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform;
  • Information about your visit, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our Site / App (including date and time), products you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors and bugs, the length of your visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), methods used to browse away from the Site / App and any phone number used to call our customer service number.
  • Information stored on your Device which you consent to share with us (such as contact information, friend lists, login information, photos, videos or other digital content) (you can typically turn off this functionality at any time by changing the relevant settings for the App on your device);
  • any details of your current location which you consent to share with us (you can typically turn off this functionality at any time by turning off the ‘location services’ settings for the App on your device); and
  • information provided to us by third parties (including, for example, business partners, sub-contractors in technical, wi-fi, payment and delivery services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers and credit reference agencies).

6.2. How we use cookies:

We use cookies to:

  • personalise our Site / App to you. For example, to try and ensure that language and region displays are correctly configured for you;
  • allow you to use our Site / App in a way that makes your browsing experience more convenient. For example, by allowing you to store items in an electronic shopping basket;
  • improve our Site / App. For example, knowing how our users navigate our Site / App and use its features allows us to streamline the user experience, speed up searches, identify bugs, make enhancements and ultimately get you to the right page and product faster;

  • allow you to quickly complete the payment details section of our checkout process with the details of any cards that you have successfully purchased products with on our Site / App before;

  • provide you with information about other goods and services we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased, enquired about or viewed on our Site / App;

  • confirm you are old enough to order age-restricted products from our Site / App;
  • should we feel it is necessary to do so, check the validity of any credit or debit card presented for payment, its credit status in relation to the value of the relevant order and whether the address data of the purchaser is correct;
  • review the popularity of our products and advertisements with reference to platform, location and other related factors;
  • if you give us your phone number or e-mail address, contact you to confirm the despatch of, arrange the delivery of, or otherwise discuss, products which you order from our Site / App; and/or
  • notify you about changes to our service.

7.2.1. We will use the information we collect about you in order to:

  • administer our Site / App and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;
  • improve our Site / App to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device;
  • allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so; and/or
  • make suggestions and recommendations to you and other users of our Site / App about goods or services that may interest you or them.

8. Where we store and process your personal data

8.1. The data that we collect from you will be stored on secure servers within the European Economic Area ("EEA") The majority of such data is held within the UK.

8.2. Certain information may be accessed and processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff maybe engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services (such as content moderation or the maintenance of our data storage facilities).

9. Security Standards

9.1. We are independently checked each year to confirm that we meet payment card industry data security standards.

9.2. We only accept orders from web browsers that permit communication through ‘Transport Layer Security’ (“TLS”) technology; for example Versions 3.0 or higher of Internet Explorer. TLS technology helps prevent you from inadvertently revealing personal details using an unsecured connection.

9.3. Please note that, notwithstanding the steps we take, the transmission of information via the internet can never be completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our Site / App; any transmission is at your own risk.

10. Disclosure of your information

10.1. First and foremost, you can rest assured that your personal information will not be shared with third-parties unnecessarily. The types of disclosures which we may make are set out below.

10.2. Disclosure of Personal Information: We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006. We may also disclose your personal information to third-parties:

  • in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
  • if we, or substantially all of our assets, are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data we hold about our customers will be one of the transferred assets;

  • if such disclosure is required for the purposes of processing a payment, checking the validity of any credit or debit card presented for payment, its credit status in relation to the value of the relevant order and whether the address data of the purchaser is correct;
  • in connection with rating or reviewing the products shown on our Site / App (including your e-mail address), to a third-party appointed by ALDI to moderate, review and respond to such comments; and
  • if the possibility of such disclosure is otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Use, our Terms and Conditions of Sale or otherwise when the personal information is collected from you.
  • 10.3. Disclosure of anonymised and aggregated information: We may also share anonymised or aggregated versions of the data which you provide to us to third-parties such as:
  • our advertisers; and
  • analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our Site / App. This includes (where available) your IP address, operating system and browser type.

10.4. This anonymised data will be collected using cookies, which alone cannot identify any individual.

12.1.1. We encourage all of our registered users to make sure that the information we hold which is visible to them through the Site / App is up to date.

12.1.2. In particular, please note that if you no longer wish us to keep your card details for making future purchases, you can click on the ‘delete card’ button in the ‘Payment Details’ area of your ‘My Account’ page and your card information will be removed from your account.

12.2. The Data Protection Act also gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Please review the details of your account or Contact Us to access your information.

13. Our Site / App may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.

14. Law and jurisdiction

14.1. This Policy is governed by English law and you can bring legal proceedings in respect of it in the English courts. If you live in Scotland you can bring legal proceedings in respect of it in either the Scottish or the English courts. If you live in Northern Ireland you can bring legal proceedings in respect of it in either the Northern Irish or the English courts.

PRIVACY POLICY FOR ALDI TESTERS CLUB

1. Purpose

This Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which your personal data will be used in respect of the Testers Club. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how it will be treated.

2. Consent to use of data

By agreeing to be a Member you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

3. Other Policies

This Privacy Policy is specific to the ALDI Testers Club. Our general website Privacy Policy, which sets out more detail on how we will use personal data provided through our website can be found at www.aldi.co.uk/customer-services/privacy-policy (the “General Policy”). In the event that there is a conflict between the General Policy and this Privacy Policy in respect of the Testers Club, this Privacy Policy will apply. Please note that the General Policy will apply to your general use of our website and the delivery of any products which you purchase through it.

4. Bazaarvoice

Please note that we run the Testers Club in co-operation with Bazaarvoice Limited. Bazaarvoice is a software company. They are registered in England and Wales with company number 05976217 and their registered office is at Level 12 Thames Tower, Reading, United Kingdom, RG1 1LX.

5. Details provided

By becoming a Member you agree to provide ALDI and Bazaarvoice with the following data:

(a) your name;

(b) your email address;

(c) a username;

(d) your address; and

(e) such other personal details which you choose to provide us, either directly or in your reviews.

6. Use and disclosure of your data

If you become a Member ALDI and Bazaarvoice will use your data in the following ways:

(a) Your username and other personal details you provide us: These may be used to promote the Testers Club, as well as being used and featured in our advertising, marketing and promotional activities, including:

• in-store features and leaflets;

• on social media channels including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest; and

• TV, Radio, print, internet or other media features.

(b) Any content produced as a result of your activity as a Member: This may be used and featured in our advertising, marketing and promotional activities, including:

• in-store features and leaflets;

• on social media channels including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest; and

• TV, Radio, print, internet or other media features.

(c) Your e-mail address: This will be used to contact you in relation to the Testers Club (this may include contacting you to discuss any reviews you make as a Member).

(d) Your address: This will be used to deliver the products and any associated documents to you for your review.

We will need to disclose your data to various ALDI suppliers to use your data in these ways. This will include:

(i) TV, Radio, printers and other media production suppliers; and

(ii) delivery companies.

7. Your rights 

We want to you to remain in control of your personal data. Part of this is making sure you understand your legal rights, which are as follows:

(a) where data is processed on the basis of consent, the right to withdraw that consent;

(b) the right to confirmation as to whether or not we have your personal data and, if we do, to obtain a copy of the personal data;

9. How long we store your data for

We will periodically review the data which we hold about our Members. Where the data is no longer required in respect of the Testers Club, any reviews made, or the delivery of any products, we will delete it from our systems.
