  • The climatic conditions of this year were particularly favorable for the vegetative cycle of the vineyard and for the maturation of the grape. The great weather continued all through blooming, 8th till 16th June 2009 as well as giving July, August and September generous amounts of sunshine. This, combined with the alternation of fresh nights and warm days gave perfect convenience for aroma concentration.

  • Château Citran

  • Château Citran is a large, left bank estate, with 90 hectares of vines with a terroir of sand, gravel, chalk and clay soils. Located in the far south of the Haut Medoc appellation, the vineyard is planted to 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot. Citran is one of the older Bordeaux properties in the Medoc with a history that goes all the way back to the 13th century. At the time, like most of the properties built in those days, its primary purpose was as a fortress. Today, Château Citran is owned by a very well-established family from Bordeaux, the Merlaut family (who also own Chateau Gruaud Larose in St. Julien, Chateau Ferrier in Margaux and Chateau Chasse Spleen).

  • Allergy: Contains sulphites
  • Aroma: Perfumed black raspberry, black cherry and dark strawberry
  • Colour: Red
  • Serving Advice: 15-18 degrees C
  • Taste: With a soft entry on the palate, fresh dark fruit flavours lead and give way to well-integrated and powdery tannins. Lovely texture and intensity of flavour on the palate carries through to a bright and persistent finish.
