Hot Cross Bun Croque Monsieur

Hot cross buns topped with grilled cheddar cheese and slices of Wiltshire ham.

Serves: 4 people | Prep time: 5 minutes | Cooking time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 x Specially Selected Mixed Fruit Hot Cross buns
  • 1 x pack breaded Wiltshire ham  
  • 200g cheddar cheese
  • 1 x medium egg- beaten  
  • 1 x flat tsp Dijon mustard  
  • Sea salt and black pepper

Method

  1. Turn the grill to high
  2. Grate the cheese and mix with the beaten egg and mustard, season with a little salt and some black pepper
  3. Cut the hot cross buns in half  
  4. Gently grill on the uncut side  
  5. Then turn over the slices and put a slice of ham on top  
  6. Divide the cheese mixture between the slices- spreading it almost to the edges of the buns
  7. Grill again for a couple of minutes, until the cheese is golden - and serve
