The long-term success of our business depends on the raw materials of all our products being sourced in a sustainable way.
The global food system is a key contributor to climate change therefore we know Aldi can’t solve this alone. We’re proud to be working with fellow retailers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on leading industry commitments such as:
• The British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) Climate Action Roadmap - a joint endeavour with the ambition of reaching net zero in retail supply chains by 2040
• WRAP’s Courtauld Commitment 2030 - an industry collaboration to deliver reductions in food waste, greenhouse gas emissions and water stress in the UK food and drink sector by 2030
• The WWF Retailer Commitment for Nature - a UK grocer ambition to reduce the environmental impact of an average UK shopping basket by 50% by 2030
As part of Aldi’s commitment to championing great British quality, many of our products are sourced from the UK. In fact, our entire core range fresh primary beef, pork, chicken, milk, shell eggs and indigenous cheeses are sourced from Red Tractor approved British farms. We are the market leader in the amount of British fresh produce and shell egg sales.
Responsible sourcing policies
We work with our suppliers to minimise the resource intensity of our products and the negative environmental impacts of their production. We have policies in place which suppliers have to meet; find out more below.
