Ginger & Grapefruit Old Fashioned

A gorgeous zesty twist on the classic Old Fashioned cocktail. Kanpai!

Ingredients
For the Ginger Syrup:
- 120g Fresh Ginger, thinly sliced
- 200g Caster Sugar
For the Old Fashioned:
- 50ml Whisky
- 15ml Ginger Syrup
- 15ml Grapefruit Juice
- Ice
To garnish:
- Sliced Grapefruit
- Ginger
Method
- Place the ginger and caster sugar into a saucepan along with 120ml water.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer for 8-10 minutes until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Leave to cool, then store in a jar. The leftover syrup can be used for drinks, desserts, yogurt pots etc.
- To make the old fashioned, pour the ginger syrup and grapefruit juice into a short glass and stir.
- Add ice then pour over the whisky.
- Garnish with the grapefruit and ginger and serve.
