Ingredients

For the Dulce de leche:

  • 397g tin Condensed Milk
  • 300g Granulated Sugar
  • 40g Butter
  • 80ml Whole Milk, hot

For the Churros:

  • 80g Unsalted Butter
  • 50g Caster Sugar
  • 150g Plain Flour
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Sunflower Oil Spray

For rolling:

  • 80g Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon

Method

  1. To make the dulce de leche, take a heavy-based saucepan and add the sugar, stirring on a medium heat until it’s a golden-coloured liquid.
  2. Add the whole milk a little at a time, stirring as you do.
  3. Then, add the condensed milk and continue stirring until you have a silky dulce de leche.
  4. In another saucepan, add 230ml water along with the butter and caster sugar, then bring to a boil.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the flour then beat until you have a smooth dough. Leave to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Mix the caster sugar and ground cinnamon to make your cinnamon sugar for later.
  7. Beat the eggs along with the salt and vanilla extract, then add to the dough and beat until thick and smooth.
  8. Place into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle and pipe 4cm lines of dough directly onto your air fryer basket leaving 1cm between them.
  9. Spray with the sunflower oil spray and air fry at 190°C for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp then roll in the cinnamon sugar.
  10. Continue cooking in batches until you have used all your dough and serve warm alongside the dulce de leche sauce.
