Ingredients
For the Dulce de leche:
- 397g tin Condensed Milk
- 300g Granulated Sugar
- 40g Butter
- 80ml Whole Milk, hot
For the Churros:
- 80g Unsalted Butter
- 50g Caster Sugar
- 150g Plain Flour
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Pinch of Salt
- Sunflower Oil Spray
For rolling:
- 80g Granulated Sugar
- 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon
Method
- To make the dulce de leche, take a heavy-based saucepan and add the sugar, stirring on a medium heat until it’s a golden-coloured liquid.
- Add the whole milk a little at a time, stirring as you do.
- Then, add the condensed milk and continue stirring until you have a silky dulce de leche.
- In another saucepan, add 230ml water along with the butter and caster sugar, then bring to a boil.
- Remove from the heat and add the flour then beat until you have a smooth dough. Leave to cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Mix the caster sugar and ground cinnamon to make your cinnamon sugar for later.
- Beat the eggs along with the salt and vanilla extract, then add to the dough and beat until thick and smooth.
- Place into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle and pipe 4cm lines of dough directly onto your air fryer basket leaving 1cm between them.
- Spray with the sunflower oil spray and air fry at 190°C for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp then roll in the cinnamon sugar.
- Continue cooking in batches until you have used all your dough and serve warm alongside the dulce de leche sauce.
