Apple Scones
Recipe
Perfect as part of an afternoon tea or serve with some fresh coffee.

Ingredients
- 250g Plain Flour
- 60g Butter, chilled
- 50g Caster Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- ½ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
- ½ tsp Cinnamon
- 2 Eating Apples
- 110ml Full Fat Milk
- A little extra Milk and 15g Brown Sugar to glaze
Serve with
- Clotted cream or Butter
- Cherry Jam
Method
- Pre-heat the oven to 220°f/425°F/Gas Mark 6.
- Put the flour, caster sugar, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon and baking powder into a mixing bowl. Grate the butter into the mix and rub in until crumbly.
- Peel the apples, grate into the mix and stir through.
- Add the milk and mix to a soft dough.
- Divide the dough in half. On a lightly floured board, gently roll or pat each half into a 15cm circle. Place them on greased baking sheets.
- With a knife, score each round into 6 wedges. Brush the tops with the extra milk and sprinkle on the brown sugar. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until browned and risen.
- Serve warm with butter or cream and some cherry jam.
