Ingredients

  • 2 x 320g Pack puff pastry
  • 8 x Slices honey roast ham
  • 8 x Slices edam cheese
  • 1 x Medium egg
  • 10ml Milk
  • 10 x Pitted green olives
  • 30g Garlic and herb butter
  • Black pepper
  • 10 Kebab skewers

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6.
  2. Line some baking sheets with non-stick paper and unroll one sheet of pastry.
  3. Put a layer of the ham slices over the top of the pastry then top this with a layer of the cheese slices.
  4. Unroll the other sheet of pastry and put over the top of the cheese. Using a sharp knife, cut the pastries in 10 long strips.
  5. Zig zag each of the strips – to make the shape of a Christmas tree then gently put a skewer through the pastry to keep in shape. Place them onto the baking sheets.
  6. Crack the egg in a bowl, season with some black pepper and whisk with the milk – use this to glaze the trees.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20/25 mins – till golden and puffed up. Whilst they are still warm melt the butter and brush over the trees then top each one with an olive and serve – hot or cold.
