ALDI Testers Club: The ALDI Testers Club provides the opportunity for ALDI customers to help ALDI improve the quality of its product range by testing products for free in exchange for honest, unbiased feedback. Users who leave detailed reviews frequently may be invited to join the club, to select a product to receive free of charge, and to leave a genuine, detailed review – which will be highlighted on the website as an incentivised review.

Types of Data: By becoming a member of the ALDI Testers Club you agree to provide ALDI with:

(a)            your name;

(b)            your email address;

(c)            a username;

(d)           your address; and

(e)           such other personal details as you choose to provide us, either directly or in your reviews.

Uses of Data: We may use the data you provide in the following ways:

Bazaarvoice’s group headquarters are in Austin, Texas, USA. As such your data may be accessed and stored from the USA.

We may also disclose your data to selected third-party service providers involved with:

ALDI Listening Panel: The ALDI Listening Panel is an online survey panel that allows ALDI to understand customer opinions about the products we sell, the shopping experience at ALDI and more general topics of wider consumer interest. Users who join the ALDI Listening Panel can expect to receive surveys on a quarterly basis. On completion of each survey the respondents are entered into a prize draw to win £100.

Types of Data: If you become a member of the ALDI Listening Panel we will collect data:

(a)            that you provide in response to correspondence about the ALDI Listening Panel; and

(b)          that you provide by filling in forms or surveys on www.aldilistening.co.uk. This will, in particular, include details of: (i) how often you shop at ALDI; (ii) if you are responsible for any of your household's weekly grocery shopping; (iii) how often you buy ALDI Specialbuys that go on sale on Sundays and Thursdays; and (iv) whether you or any of your immediate family work in grocery retail (such as supermarkets).

Once registered with the ALDI Listening Panel you can then choose to answer online surveys into shopping or opt out at any time.

Basis for Processing: Your consent to membership of the ALDI Listening Panel and our legitimate interests (to improve our customer’s experience of our Site / App and stores, satisfy orders and to learn more about how our customers use our products/services).

TellALDI: Tell ALDI is an online survey that allows customers to feedback information and opinions about their experience when shopping in ALDI stores. Using a unique code on the base of their receipt, customers are asked to answer a series of questions relating to their shopping experience and the customer service they receive. Customers who complete a survey are then entered in to a draw to win £100 of ALDI vouchers.

Types of Data: If you enter a TellALDI Competition you agree to provide ALDI with:

(a)            your name;

(b)            your email address or phone number;

(c)            if you win a TellALDI Competition, your address; and

(d)            if you win a TellALDI Competition and it is requested by ALDI, proof of your age.

ALDI and InMoment will use the information you provide in relation to a TellALDI Competition in the following ways:

Uses of Data:

Name and country of residence: Your name and county of residence may be used:

(a)           to contact you in relation to a TellALDI Competition (this may include contacting you to discuss any comments you make when entering a TellALDI Competition); or

(b)          on ALDI’s Twitter page (www.twitter.com/AldiUK), our Site / App and/or www.tellALDI.com, if you win a TellALDI Competition.

The contents of your TellALDI Competition entries: You agree that we own the copyright in such entries and may use them free of charge in media coverage and marketing materials relating to the Site and a TellALDI Competition, in ALDI’s in-store leaflets, on the ALDI website and/or on social media channels, including:

(a)            Twitter.com/ALDIuk ;

(b)           Facebook.com/ALDIuk ; and

(c)           pinterest.com/ALDIukstores

Save as specified above, we will not use any personal data about you in any such media or marketing materials without first obtaining your express consent for us to do so.

Analytics: ALDI and InMoment may also use, store and analyse TellALDI Competition entries for the purpose of improving the ALDI shopping experience.

Your email address or phone number: This may be used to contact you in relation to a TellALDI Competition (this may include contacting you to discuss any comments you make when entering a TellALDI Competition).

Your address: Should you win a TellALDI Competition this will be used to deliver your prize to you. This may also be used to contact you in relation to a TellALDI Competition (this may include contacting you to discuss any comments you make when entering a TellALDI Competition).

Proof of your age: This will be used to verify that you are old enough to have entered a TellALDI Competition.

ALDI Photo Service: The ALDI Photo Service is an online service for all your photo needs. You can make photo books, prints, calendars, cards, wall decoration & photo gifts. The ALDI Photo Service is managed on ALDI’s behalf by Medion Electronics Limited (“Medion”).

Terms and Conditions: The Terms and Conditions for the use of the ALDI Photo Service can be found at http://www.aldiphotos.co.uk/terms-and-conditions/.

Medion’s Privacy Policy: The Privacy Policy for the ALDI Photo Service can be found at http://www.aldiphotos.co.uk/privacy/. This explains which data Medion records when you visit the ALDI online photo album or online print service websites and how ALDI and Medion will use any personal data Medion collects from you, or you provide to Medion during your use of the ALDI Photo Service.

Third-Parties Involved: Medion is the data controller in respect of the ALDI Photo Service. Medion are registered in England with company number 03678084 whose registered office is at 120 Faraday Road, Faraday Park Dorcan, Swindon, Wiltshire SN3 5JF.

Medion may from time to time use individuals or companies known as the data processors whom are not employees or agents of Medion, or indeed connected with Medion. However any processing undertaken by such individuals is undertaken subject to a data processing agreement which protects your data.

ALDI Store Wi-Fi: The ALDI Store Wi-Fi is a free service available to all customers who shop in our stores, enabling them to connect to Wi-FI while shopping with us. By registering for and using the ALDI in-store Wi-Fi facilities (“Store Wi-Fi”), and in particular by submitting any information to ALDI (including your personal data) you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in this Section.

Types of Data:

Information which you give us: We may collect and process the following data which you provide to us:

(a)            information that you provide when registering to use the Store-Wi-Fi;

(b)            information that you provide when you report a problem with our Store Wi-Fi;

(c)            information that you provide through surveys or when asked to give your opinions  about our services and products; and

(d)            your e-mail address.

Information we collect about you: We may also collect and process the following technical information automatically when you log onto the Store Wi-Fi:

(a)            the MAC address used to connect your device to the Service, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform;

(b)            information about the length of your use of the Store Wi-Fi, data consumed whilst on the Store Wi-Fi and any phone number used to call our customer service number; and

(c)            information about you which is supplied to us by third parties when you use an account you already have with a third party to register with us.  For example, the Store Wi-Fi service allows you to sign up to it using your social media credentials i.e. your Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus account. We will receive certain information from the social media platform you have chosen to use in accordance with the terms and conditions that you have agreed with them.  If you are uncertain what information a third party may share with us, we recommend you review the terms of your account with that third party.

Uses of Data:

Information you give to us: We will use the information you provide to us in order to:

(a)            facilitate your access to the Store Wi-Fi network;

(b)            send you marketing communications and other information about other goods and services we offer (if you have agreed to receive them); and

(c)            notify you about changes to the Store Wi-Fi.

Information which we collect about you: We will use the information we collect about you in order to:

(a)            allow you to use our Store Wi-Fi in a way that makes your browsing experience more convenient. For example, by enabling us to recognise the device you use when you return to one of our stores and wish to use the Store Wi-Fi again using that same device;

(b)            improve our Store Wi-Fi. For example, knowing how and when our customers make use of the Store Wi-Fi allows us to streamline the user experience, speed up searches, identify bugs and make enhancements;

(c)            administer the Store Wi-Fi and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;

(d)            improve the Store Wi-Fi to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device and also to improve our retail stores; and / or

(e)            allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so.

We may combine information from other sources with the information you give to us and that which we collect about you. We may use this combined information for the purposes set out above. 

Disclosure of Data: Further to the disclosures described in Section 7 (Disclosures of your Personal Data), we may also disclose your personal data to third parties in connection with:

(a)            rating or reviewing the Store Wi-Fi; and

(b)            the moderation, review and response to such ratings and reviews.

Third-Party Links:

Where you use the Store Wi-Fi to access any non-ALDI websites (including any that may be linked from the Store Wi-Fi landing page), any information you submit to such a website will be controlled by the operator of that site, over which ALDI have no control. Accessing those websites may allow third-parties to collect or share data about you. Please check the relevant third-party privacy policies before you submit any personal data to them.

Basis for Processing: This processing is: (a) necessary for the performance of a contract with you; and (b) in accordance with our legitimate interests (to improve our customer’s experience of our Site / App and stores, keep our records updated, to learn more about how our customers use our products/services and to grow our business and to inform our marketing strategy).

Third-Parties Involved: Our main partner for the ALDI Store Wi-Fi is Trust Systems Limited. They are registered in England and Wales with company number 06013797 and their registered office is at L Unit 20 - 21 Cirencester Office Park, Tetbury Road, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England, GL7 6JJ.

ALDI Shopping List: The ALDI Shopping List app has been built so that we can provide customers with an understanding of what groceries we sell in your local stores, and help you locate the items easily by ordering them on your list by a route you can take in store. By using the ALDI Shopping List App, and in particular by submitting your personal data to us, you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in this Section.

Types of Data:

Information which you give us: We may collect and process the following data which you provide to us:

(a)            information that you provide by filling in forms on, or registering to use, the ALDI Shopping List App (such as your name, username age, contact details and details of products and services which you search for on the ALDI Shopping List App); and

(b)            information that you provide when you report a problem with the ALDI Shopping List App or otherwise contact our Customer Services Team.

Information we collect about you: We may also collect and process the following technical information automatically when you use the ALDI Shopping List App:

(a)            the Internet Protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the internet, your login information, details of the type of device you use, a unique device identifier and mobile network information (such as your mobile phone number);

(b)            information about your use, including any products which you viewed or searched for, response times, download errors and bugs, the length of your visits to certain areas of the ALDI Shopping List App, time spent using the ALDI Shopping List App and time between actions on the ALDI Shopping List App;

(c)            any information stored on your device which you expressly consent to share with us when using the ALDI Shopping List App (such as contact information, friend lists, login information, photos, videos or other digital content – you can typically turn off this functionality at any time by changing the relevant settings for the ALDI Shopping List App on your device);

(d)            any details of your current location which you expressly consent to share with us (you can typically turn off this functionality at any time by turning off the ‘location services’ settings for the ALDI Shopping List App on your device); and

(e)            information provided to us by third parties (such as business partners, sub-contractors, analytics providers and search information providers).

Uses of Data:

Information you give to us: We will use information you provide to us:

(a)            in connection with any feedback which you submit on the ALDI Shopping List App; and

(b)            in order to notify you about changes to the ALDI Shopping List App or our services.

Information which we collect about you: We will use the information we collect about you in order to:

(a)            administer the ALDI Shopping List App and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;

(b)            improve the ALDI Shopping List App to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device;

(d)            make suggestions and recommendations to you and other users of the ALDI Shopping List App about goods or services that may interest you or them.

Store CCTV: A number of our stores have CCTV cameras.

Types of Data: If you visit one of our stores your image may be captured on our cameras.

Uses of Data: We will use this data as and when it is necessary to review an incident at or around one of our stores.

Basis for Processing: This processing is both necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations and in accordance with our legitimate interests (to improve our store security, prevent fraud and assist the relevant authorities with any relevant investigations).

Third-Parties Involved: Selected third-party providers involved with:

(a)            the provision of CCTV monitoring products and services; and

(b)            professional advisors involved with the review of CCTV footage.

ALDI & Netmums Sampling Programme: The ALDI & Netmums Sampling Programme allows users to register to receive samples of ALDI Mamia products. There are two parts to the programme, both of which are registered for via the Netmums website – the Newborn Sampling Programme (entitling users to receive one sample delivery, subject to availability) and the Netmums Mums Club Chairmums Programme (entitling users to receive an ongoing delivery of samples, subject to availability).

Types of Data:

For the Newborn Sampling Programme we will collect:

(a)            Name

(b)            Email; and

(c)            Address.

For the Netmums Mums Club Chairmums Programme:

(a)            Email

(b)            Address;

(c)            Information about why they would like to become a Chairmum;

(d)            such other personal details as you choose to provide us, as part of the relationship

For the Newborn sampling activity, we will use:

Get Set to Eat Fresh: Get Set to Eat Fresh is part of the Get Set family of education programmes. Created in partnership with the British Olympic Association and ALDI, Get Set to Eat Fresh uses Team GB athletes as a source of inspiration to encourage students aged 5-14 to cook and eat healthy, fresh food. Free lesson plans, activities and athlete films give young people the confidence to cook and feed themselves healthy food – everything they need to perform at their best in the classroom and on the field, supporting students to achieve healthy, active lifestyles.

Types of Data:

Information which you give us: We may collect and process the following data which you provide to us:

(a)            title;

(b)            name;

(c)            email address;

(d)            job title or role;

(e)            subject of interest;

(f)             establishment/home address;

(g)            telephone number (not compulsory);

(h)           number of students user intends to use these resources with;

(i)              how you heard about the programme; and

When users upload a showcase or otherwise participate in the programme we may capture:

When users use our “refer a friend” voucher offer:

Uses of Data: We will use the information you provide to us in order to:

(a)            share the contributed showcases on the programme site;

(b)            send newsletter emails to registered users, promoting resources and opportunities, and asking people to take part in surveys;

(c)            to contact people who have sent in showcases, asking to use their testimonials;

(d)            to use user’s details to fulfil prizes, especially if they have submitted a showcase or referred a friend;

(e)            to send marketing communications;

(f)             to understand profile and location of establishments, and teachers’ interests, audience and reach to better understand our audience and create new materials; and

(g)            to evaluate the success of the programme and the popularity of resources.

ALDI Wine Club: The ALDI Wine Club provides the opportunity for the public to sample, and help ALDI improve the quality of, its award winning wine. ALDI occasionally runs competitions to allow people to apply to join this select panel.

Types of Data: By applying to become a member of the ALDI Wine Club you agree to provide ALDI with:

a)         your name;

b)         your Twitter account name and profile;

c)          your e-mail address;

d)         if you are selected as a potential ALDI Wine Club Member, proof of your age; and

e)         if you are selected as a potential ALDI Wine Club Member, your address.

Uses of Data: We may use the data you provide in the following ways:

a)      Your name, Twitter account name and e-mail address: This will be used to administer the ALDI Wine Club (including notifying you if you become an ALDI Wine Club Member, contacting you to discuss any reviews you make as an ALDI Wine Club Member or otherwise contacting you in relation to the Competition or ALDI Wine Club);

b)       Your name and county of residence: May be used on ALDI’s Twitter page to publicly promote the results of the Competition if you become an ALDI Wine Club Member;

c)        Your Twitter account name, profile picture and any content produced as a result of your activity as an ALDI Wine Club Member: May be used in our advertising, marketing and promotional activities, including:

i)           publicity announcing the results of the Competition;

Basis for Processing: Variously, your consent to membership of the ALDI Wine Club, your consent to receiving marketing communications and our legitimate interests (to learn more about what our customers feel about our products and administer the Wine ALDI Club).
